New Paltz Storm - 2nd place of the Florida Spartan Indoor Soccer Tournament

The following players participated in the Florida Spartan Soccer Tournament:

Alexandra Cymbal

Ryan Drake

Daniel Drewnowski

Sean Geisler

Alejandro Martynek

Omelyan Shuhan

Wells Willet

Mitchell Zapka

The Storm came out a bit sluggish with a loss to Cornwall.  The Storm were back on

their heels the entire game and allowed Cornwall to get two quick goals.  The Storm

slowly woke up and were able to put the ball in the back of the net twice but the

referee ruled off both goals due to the indirect kicks not touching anyone.  After

this tough loss to Cornwall the Storm played flawless not making another mistake

the rest of the tournament.  Alexandra Cymbal, Wells Willet and Alejandro

Martynek kept the pressure in the offensive end for the remainder of the

tournament, while Ryan Drake and Sean Geisler kept the defense in check and the

ball away from the Storm's goal.  Daniel Drewnoski and Omelyan Shuhan split the

time in the goal and made several fantastic saves that included many diving stops.

Mitchell Zapka showed up for the tournament and played spectacular.  Zapka was

able to make several crucial defensive stops and even transition the ball into many

offensive attacks.  Zapka took one ball on the volley at half court and placed it in

the back of the net for a goal.  Zapka was named the most valuable player of the

tournament for the Storm.  Without Zapka's performance the Storm would not have

been able to secure 2nd place.  Congratulations to the New Paltz Storm for another

fantastic display of soccer.
